Long Story Short School of Writing at Colorado Free University offers students an opportunity to study under extremely accomplished successful writers, most of whom are also well-published. We are an Internet based school which offers a multitude of great courses taught by highly qualified instructors. Whether you write for fun, school, business or with dreams of getting published, we have courses that will help advance your writing and your career!
The instructers bring real life writing experience having had the joy of that first acceptance and the defeat of the rejection notice. They can help you hone your writing skills, whatever your goals may be.
LSS Writing School is a spinoff of our ezine for writers, Long Story Short, dedicated to the advancement of writers. Each month, we publish numerous flash and short stories, as well as articles and poetry. Once you have a polished piece of writing, submit it to us for publication. Our staff often critiques and helps our writers perfect their work before publication. See our Submission Guidelines before submitting.
Our Directors are Denise Cassino and Linda Barnett-Johnson, two virtual pals who have worked together for 7 years but have never met in person - the power of the Internet!
All classes are via the Internet. Once you register, your instructor will contact you to set up the first class and make arrangements with you for interacting either by email, if you are one of only a few students in a given course, or by message board if the enrollment for that particular class is large.
You will be given complete instructions as to how you will be submitting homework, contacting your instructors and interacting with classmates.
If you are interacting with classmates, please be sure to follow our LSS Critiquing Guidelines so as to encourage your fellow students in their efforts.
Because we are strictly an Internet-based school, some of the rules, systems and procedures of CFU do not apply. However, you may register here, in person, by phone and by fax as usual. We will probably never close due to weather as power outages would be our only concern.
